Replacing my E200 Mercedes-Benz with a newer diesel version.

I am considering replacing my W124 Mercedes-Benz E200 estate with a newer post facelift W211 E-Class estate. I was wondering if you think an older car with lower mileage or a newer car with higher mileage would be best?

I am considering a high spec diesel car.
