Honda clutch failure
Clutch burnt out at 40,000 miles. I have just part-exchanged my second car, a Mazda MX5 (for another) with 115,000 miles on the clock. It's on the original clutch. The car I PX'd for the CR-V had done over 80,000 miles.
That car is still under warranty, (I know the clutch is not not covered). The car is mainly used on long distance journeys and I do not commute. It is not used for towing. Honda have turned down any good-will payment because they say it must be the way I drive ! The above data seems to repute this.
On the above journeys I use (possibly over-use the cruise control and the accelerate/decelerate buttons on steering wheel. Would this usage accelerate the demise of the clutch. The repairing dealer can find nothing wrong with the hydraulics.

Manufacturers generally only warrant a clutch for 6 months from new.
