Strange braking issue with a Peugeot 406

My Peugeot 406 has a braking issue which seems really odd.

When braking quite hard the pedal goes down but the servo keeps on operating even as your foot is lifted, almost like automatic braking. Only happened twice but it's rather disconcerting. Servo certainly works but does not seem to released foot pressure is released. The pedal never goes down more than half way.

Would suggest that you check out the servo for leaks etc and also the brake master cylinder.
