Subaru parts policy headache
My diesel Subaru Legacy Tourer has failed at 45000 miles (June 2008 reg) with a crankshaft bearing failure. The car is out of warranty and does not have a complete Subaru FSH so Subaru are refusing to make any contribution towards the repair.
My problem is that they are also unable (or unwilling?) to supply just the crankshaft and bearings for this model and are only able to supply a new short engine at £4500 which puts the total bill at £8070.
Do you think this is a reasonable policy for a car less than 5 years old?
