Does a disclaimer notice in an automated car wash have any legal effect?
The back covers of both wing mirrors were flipped off in an automated carwash and one was badly damaged.
Does the displayed disclaimer notice have any legal effect? I'm expecting their insurer's first response to be 'not liable'.
Would just like to know if that is true, and whether it is worth pursuing.
Not a huge amount to fix (£60 for one) but enough to have made it a very expensive carwash! Thanks

There was a case about this a few years ago but it is lost in the mists of memory. I think the disclaimer notice absolves them of any liability unless the machinery malfunctioned, in which case they are liable.
