VW Jetta 2008 - timing chain failure prognosis

My 2008 VW Jetta, 1.4TSI, DSG Petrol is in the garage following a timing chain failure. Is it likely that there will be damage to the cylinder head?

Another reader wrote of the same thing in a 2008 Golf today. Needed 4 pistons and 8 valves. Seems to be an epidemic among early 1.4TSIs. Apparently this was hushed up in Germany.
