Is the new MOT certificate really just a sheet of A4 paper?
I've just picked up a new MOT 'certificate' from my local friendly garage. When he thrust a piece of white A4 paper into my hand I thought he was having a joke. It resembled more a receipt from an online shop than an official VOSA document. But he informed me that this is the new certificate. I wonder what the Gendarme Nationale will make of it when I'm asked to produce my 'Controle Technique' at one of their routine road checks outside Calais?

The details are all held online where they can be accessed by the DVLA for VED discs, HPI and also the police, of course. So the bit of paper is no different from any other printout of information held online.
Check the mileage is correct, by the way, because if it is wrong there is only a limited time to correct it or your car is forever tarred with a mileage discrepancy.
