Why has Toyota abandoned the Yaris' digital speedo?

I have a 2006 Toyota Yaris and was disappointed to read that Toyota has since abandoned the digital speedo. It is so easy to read and, when driving abroad, you can just set it to kilometres. It's much better than squinting to see your speed in small characters on a dial. Friends have had newer cars and I thought it very strange that they all have the old fashioned type dial. What a shame.

Yes it is a shame. Goes to prove the old adage; "the customer is always wrong."
