Is this insurance quote too good to be true?

I have been a loyal customer with the same insurance company for over 30 years, but Sainsbury’s Car insurance has given me a quote which halves my current insurer’s premium. I was brought up to believe that if anything sounds too good to be true it probably is. Have you heard of any adverse reports about Sainsbury’s car insurance, or would you recommend I stay with my current insurer with whom I'm happy?

This year some insurers are loading premiums heavily while others are hooking policyholders with low premiums, and then loading them later for just about anything, including minor speeding tickets. The best at the moment seems to be LV, which is a mutual and therefore does not have a first duty of returning a profit to shareholders or to private equity fund investors. But it, too, might be 'buying business' just as Equitable Life attempted to do prior to its demise.
