Thanks to Wingmirrorman for a cheap repair.

An errant Micra driver took out the offside mirror of my 2009 Vauxhall Astra on a narrow road. The repair was quoted by a Sussex Vauxhall dealer at £286.90. Within three days I had obtained a complete new pattern unit, including motor and heated glass and finished in the correct colour, from www.wingmirrorman.co.uk of Bury, Lancashire, found via the 1stchoice.co.uk parts-sourcing website. A helpful girl was on the phone within ten minutes of my inquiry and gave what turned out to be the lowest quote. I fitted the unit myself. Total cost £72.69 posted. Why do we even bother with franchised dealers and their rip-off prices?

That is brilliant and solves a common problem. You can't normally even get mirror pods separately from the whole mirror assembly.
