Undefined error code with Vauxhall Corsa
I have recently changed the engine in my 2004 Vauxhall Corsa C, engine Z12XE. The car runs fine, but the mechanic who replaced the engine (very reliable and knowledgeable mechanic) could not for the life of him figure out why the emissions light/engine management light was on.
He hooked it up to the diagnostic machine and it kicks out the error code ‘U’, which stands for undefined. Does anyone know what this means? Where do I start to look for a fix to the problem?
On a side note I have a few other light problems on my dash. My airbag light stays on when the car is off and the key is out, but turns off when the car is running. Also my handbrake light comes on even though the handbrake is down (brake fluid is full and hand brake cables already replaced). However a tap on the dash turns that light off. What could it be?

Not sure how you just get fault code U, did you not get any numbers with it?
U can indicate a coms CAN (data bus) problem. Have you tried to reset the system?
Also, with the air bag problem, a diagnostic should show up the fault - have you checked all the connections, especially under the seats?
The handbrake warning light sounds like a loose connection/dry joint problem in the dash.
