Can you recommend a car for my commute?
I am searching for a used car for £7000. I commute 40-miles every day on national speed limit moorland roads and urban 30-40mph roads. All have a broken road surface and the closer to work I am, the more stop/start the traffic. I average about 27mph for the trip.
I'm thinking of throwing out all delusions of sportiness and going for the most relaxing place to sit for 90 minutes a day, which will still give 35mpg and excellent reliability. Oh and I need 4+ doors for the school run. Any ideas?

A Renault Megane on 15-inch wheels with 195/65 R15 tyres gives the best ride in the class.
