Car damaged in car park - what can I do?
I parked in a city centre car park. There were few spaces, but I eventually found one next to a cara that was not well parked and encroached on two spaces. I was a little anxious and took a picture of the cars, just in case.
When I returned I found two large scrapes along the body of my car, with a clear trace of red paint which matches the adjoining car. Can I report this to the police and ask for the other driver to pay for the damage?

You can report it to the police who will be totally disinterested, but may give you a crime number. You can then use "just cause" to apply to the DVLA for the name and address of the registered keeper.
You can then demand payment for the damage from the registered keeper citing the crime number and your photographic evidence.
