Corrosion issues with Subaru Forester - what can I do?
My 2008 Subaru Forester has corrosion issues, but the dealer I bought the car from refuses to accept any liability. The dealer says the rust is due to untreated stone chips, which I refute.
I bought the car in September 2011 and it has always been washed frequently with polish and wax. The problem was observed and reported very promptly. I have consulted the CAB, whereupon I believe a "burden of proof" is required, and I have photos of the problem areas. Can you offer any advice before I reply to the Subaru dealer?

If you dispute Subaru's decision over the warranty you bought with the car and over the fact that the car has suffered a serious fault within six years of purchase, you can sue the supplying dealer.
First you will need to get three competitive quotations for repairing the damage so you can sue for an amount of money. Then, starting with www.moneyclaim.gov.uk, take your case to the small claims track of the county court.
You can check the law here: www.honestjohn.co.uk/faq/consumer-rights/ I'll enter this in www.hoenstjohn.co.uk/carbycar where I think there's another case of something similar with a Subaru.
