Second hand Golf TDI for £3000 – a good deal?
I have the chance to buy a 2005 Volkswagen Golf 2.0 GT TDI (auto) with 90,000 miles for £3000. Is this a good deal?
I drive 20,000 miles a year (mostly on motorways) and want to save some money on fuel and costs. I currently drive a Vauxhall Vectra, but it’s starting to cost me a lot in repairs. Do I stick with the Vauxhall or buy the Volkswagen?

The Golf is quite cheap and as long as you understand the risks and likely high maintenance costs you could go for it. See www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar

Far better than previous Vectra. Now with decent handling and an excellent ride. Plenty of safety kit. Roomy in the front. Big boot. Good looks.
Decent handling and comfortable on the move, impressive TSI engines, massive improvement over the previous Golf, high-economy Bluemotion models, high quality feel of interior, five-star Euro NCAP safety rating.
