Is it illegal to take delivery of a new car before date of registration?
I'm buying a new car which will be registered for the 1 September; however, the dealer wants to deliver the car early and keep it on my driveway. I phoned to get insurance cover and was told that it is illegal for the dealer to supply the car before the 1 September, is this correct?

The car can be delivered to your driveway on the dealer's insurance and will remain his responsibility until 1 September. You cannot drive it on the road until 1 September when the VED and your insurance commence.
