Can I return my faulty car bought on finance recently?
I bought a used Vauxhall Astra 1.9 CDTi 2006 reg with 68,000 finance. Having now had it for just over a month it's got an issue with a whining sound from the 3rd and 4th gears when driving....the garage have had it back to fix however, say they cant find a fault and that I should buy a £500 extended warranty for piece of mind.
Bearing in mind that I have had it back to them to fix a cracked spring - they completed this fine and also in the first two weeks bought two new tyres and two new brakes discs and pads. I am now at my wits end and don't know what to do?
Can I return it - considering I bought it through Barclays finance and have only paid one payment so far what are my options? I would be happier for the problem to be diagnosed and fixed rather than him just saying "Don't worry there isn't a problem" when there is - and I know from looking at the reliability record that the Vauxhall Astra 1.9 diesel gearboxes do break quite frequently.
I repeat I don't want to get rid of it, but I feel if I can then I would as it is becoming more of a hindrance in only month one!

You cannot buy a warranty to cover a pre-existing fault because that would be classed as insurance fraud. If the car is faulty it is "not of satisfactory quality" and you can return it to the dealer for a refund: www.honestjohn.co.uk/faq/consumer-rights/
