What does the 'sport' button on my BMW 320d actually do?
With some good advice from you, I purchased a new BMW320d last year. Overall, I'm delighted with it. However, there’s one slight problem – I cannot discover exactly what changes when I select sport mode. Can you tell me what the ‘sport’ button actually does?

If you have the active suspension option it should stiffen up the suspension and make the ride harder. How much of this you will feel depends on the wheel/tyre combination, but you should notice the difference on bumps and on turn in to corners. But if you don't have active suspension it will only change the engine response. I only ever used that switch for extra traction in snow.
