What's causing my E-class to suffer poor fuel consumption and loss of power?

My Mercedes-Benz E-class is very heavy on fuel, yet it has next to no acceleration. What’s going on?

I guess it's because the injectors are in a state. Without inspecting the car, it's difficult to suggest a solution. However, it might be an idea to replace the air filter and filling with Shell V-Power Nitro Plus. Otherwise take it to a garage to be checked.
