Buying a new Mercedes A-Class - petrol or diesel?

I am considering buying a new shape Mercedes A-Class; it will cover about 15,000 a year and I’m considering a diesel. However, with DPF problems considered, is this wise? Or should I buy a petrol?

The A-Class 1.5 diesel is a belt cam Renault engine. I'd go for petrol.
