I can't run an HPI check on this used Astra because it has a private plate - is this safe?
I am currently in the process of buying an Astra 1.8 SRI on a 56 plate that has only 26,500 miles on the clock. I cannot get the car checked because the (private) seller has a private plate and says that it is not included in the sale. The price of the car is £5995 ONO. Does anyone else think this is too good to be true?

Be very careful. You should always conduct the data/HPI on the car's VIN (chassis) number and not the registration number. If the seller is unwilling to give you this information to conduct the check, then walk away. There's no reason for him/her to withold it, if you're a serious buyer, and if you don't conduct a data check before buying, you'll be taking too much of a risk.
