Accident in a friend's car - what can I do?

If you have an accident in a friend's car and they do not claim from their company insurance for the vehicle, because they were insuring the car illegally. Can they take me to civil court to make me pay for the car? Bearing in mind the police have not made any charges into the matter.

If you are saying the car was not insured either by their policy or by yours then, yes. If you damaged it, you have to pay for it. But if the police find out that the car wasn't insured at the time of the 'incident', both of you could be in fairly serious trouble.
