Extended warranty - is it worth the money?

I am considering a 2007 Honda Civic 1.8 i-VTEC ES from a private seller. Do you think it would be prudent to get a warranty and who are considered the best firms?

No warranty insurer will insure you against a pre-existing fault. But generally Warranty Direct is good. I had a recent case where it had forked out £10,000 for a new engine dof a 146,000 mile, seven year old Discovery.
