Buying a used Alfa Giulietta - 2.0 diesel or 1.4 TB Multiair?

I'm an Alfa fan and intend to by a used Giulietta. I'm attracted by the economy of the diesel, but my driving is 9000 miles per annum with many short journeys and occasional long trips. Which engine do you recommend?

The new Guilietta 150PS Multijet is smooth, but boring, so I'd go the the 1.4TD Multiair.
