New MoT certificates may lead to more forgeries.
Now that the MoT certificate is no more than a print-out there has been a further outbreak of forgeries. Never take an MoT print-out at face value. MoT paper certificates are no longer proof of existence of a valid MoT pass. When considering buying a used vehicle that requires a MoT, always check online to ensure the MoT certificate is valid. If a seller won't let you check a vehicle's MOT online before you buy, walk away and report the matter to VOSA. You can check MOT records through: www.gov.uk/check-mot-status-vehicle.

Fair warning. But readers need both the registration of the car and either the MoT test number (from the VT20 test certificate) or the document reference number from the V5C registration certificate.
