Why can't my grandson get insurance cover?

My daughter has just changed her Astra for a Corsa 1.2 and is now trying to obtain cover for her son aged 18 who passed his test last week. The car would be in her name and he would be the named driver. They live in Ripon. Some insurers will not quote, and some will not cover journalists or sportsmen, and his only income is from Yorkshire County Cricket Club as a budding fast bowler. Have you any suggestions please?

They are suspicious that she is fronting herself as the main driver when he is. Might do better with a 'black box' insurer, possibly with him as the policyholder and your daughter as a named driver to allay any suspicion. Some of these insurers at the bottom of the list of links may help: www.honestjohn.co.uk/useful-websites/tax-insurance.../
