Which sporty car for my elderly mother?
My mum, well embarked on her 80s, has decided she 'wants a more sporty car' (don't ask). She is a strong willed lady, in full possession of her faculties and is currently driving a Toyota Yaris, which she detests. So can you suggest 'a sporty car', not a soft top or a 2-seater, but something that has the 'lines' of something a little racier than the Yaris? It could be 3-door or 5-door but needs a reasonable boot space and, of course, safety and economy are vital as well. Budget £18,000 max.

Insurance for a ‘sporty car’ could be a problem, of course. My 89 year old mum loves her Yaris, which she has owned for 12 years. Even if she can get into a coupe now, she won't be able to for long. The subtle answer might be an SUV, like a Nissan Juke or the new Peugeot 2008 or Renault Captur that are about to arrive soon. More details within the next fortnight or so.
