Why won't Volkswagen UK help with rust problem on my UAE-import Golf?
I have hit a brick wall concerning my 5-year old Volkswagen Golf. I bought this car brand new from Motorpoint, Glasgow. It was an import from the UAE and recently I have noticed rust on both front wheel arches. I took the car to my local Volkswagen dealer and they agreed it was corroded. They asked me for a data sticker with all the details about my car. I have never had such a sticker. I do have a V5C, but they insist on seeing this data sticker which is supposed to be in the boot, but it is not. No data sticker - no repair. Is there anything more I can do to get this corrosion fixed under guarantee?

No, because this car is not and never was the responsibility of Volkswagen GB. You did not buy it "brand new" from Motorpoint because Motorpoint is not a franchised UK Volkswagen dealer. You bought it unused, but second or third hand and first time registered in the UK. It might have been built in Volkswagen's South African factory that produces RHD cars to be sold in countries with warm climates, that do not require the level of rustproofing needed in Europe.
