Is the failure of Skoda's Columbus unit a common fault?
My 2009 Skoda Superb is four years old and out of warranty. A couple of months ago the Columbus unit (radio, satnav, Bluetooth, etc) ceased to function. The local Skoda dealer said he had never heard of one failing before and quoted £2100 to replace it. I contacted Skoda UK and, as a gesture of goodwill, they were prepared to cover 50 per cent of the price plus fitting and VAT (£1270). Too much for my purse, I am afraid. Have you heard of this unit failing with others?
