Buying a second car - what's best for £12k?

I’m looking for a second car, which is fun to drive and has a pleasant ride . Something with a bit of class would be nice as I’ll cover 3000 miles, mostly around town budget. What do you recommend I buy with a budget of £12,000?

Best in class is now a Ford Fiesta 1.0 EcoBoost 125 Zetec, but you need to get it on 16-inch alloy wheels with 195/50 R16 tyres, not 17-inch wheels. An alternative maybe is a FIAT 500 TwinAir or a Suzuki Swift.
