I worked on an Isuzu Trooper and the wheel fell off - I'm now being taken to court. What should I do?
I am a qualified mechanic with 9 years' experience. I did a wee job for a guy from my local pub, fitting handbrake cables on an Isuzu Trooper. I torqued the wheels afterwards, took it for an MoT and back to my house (32 miles) and then the owner collected it, took it to work and back (another 30 miles) and the wheel fell off two days after I had last touched it.
Now I find it hard to believe a car of that size would be able to travel that distance without the wheel making a huge noise then coming off. I am now being taken to the small claims for his expenses of the repairs. Surely the driver has the responsibility to check the car everyday before use!
