Loss of power in Vauxhall Vectra - what's the cause?

My Vauxhall Vectra 1.8 petrol is juddering and losing power. The engine managment light on too. What's going on?

Check the ECT (engine coolant temp) sensor harness multi plug connection,as this is known to fail due to vibration. Also check all air/vacuum connections.

If all above is okay then you may be best to have a diagnostic check carried out.
This should then show a fault code ( ie P ---- 4 numbers) which should then relate to the problem ( could be one of the many sensors).
