Why does my daughter's Ibiza refuse to start?

My daughter's car often won't start because the battery is flat. She does a few short town-based journeys each week, and a monthly motorway trip home. There's no power leakage with the ignition off and the battery is only 12 months old. Is there anything we've missed, or is there anything she can do to alleviate the problem, please?

There is a leakdown somewhere. Or she is doing more than a "few" short runs from cold. Try switching the interior light off completely so it is always off. Quite often the automatic 'see you out' self dimmer remains open circuit even though the light goes off, and that drains the battery.
