Why doesn't the heater work on my camper van?

I have petrol 1990 Nissan vanette camper. The heater blows but no heat, any ideas?

There must be a blockage between the engine and the heater matrix, or the heater valve has failed so no coolant is getting through from the engine to the heater matrix.
