New Skoda Octavia - which petrol engine?
I am looking for a new family car, with size (boot and rear), practicality, comfort and reliability in mind, to keep for 5-7 years (budget 15-20k). With this in mind, the Skoda Octavia seems to offer the best solution.
In terms of engines, I am considering the 1.2 TSI or 1.4 TSI (both SE trim - 16" wheels). As an outside choice, the 1.4 TSI Elegance (on 17" wheels) might be considered.
I drive about 11K miles a year, across a mixture of rural A-roads, town and motorway driving. Considering my needs, which engine/spec would you recommend?

Stick to 16" wheels and sensible profile tyres. You won't want to race the thing.
