Car park charges: Five min stop on private land, by non member of BPA. Fined £100. HELP!
Stopped for 5 mins in private land car park thinking it was a post office car park. On return an envelope with penalty charge notice on it inside a parking charge notice for £100,or £60 if paid in 14 days. I rang the BPA and they say they are not members. The receptionist said to ignore it as they couldn't get details of my address. Is this good advice?

If they are not members of the BPA then they cannot legally obtain your keepership details because to do so would be a breach of the Data Protection Act. There are specific rules attached to Clause 56 of the Protection of Freedoms Act governing the way private parking charges must be posted and any breach of these renders them illegal: www.honestjohn.co.uk/faq/private-parking-penalties/
