Parking Fines

Hi John, I came home from work today to be welcomed by a parking charge notice.
It claims I overstayed by by arriving at 07.18am and leaving at 17.33.
I was at work that day with the car. I did park at this location to use the shop before work but was only there for about 5 minutes, and was back around 17.20 after work to grab some bits from the shop and again could only have been there for 10 minutes max.
They don't appear to have clocked me leaving in the morning or arriving after work on their camera conveniently.
How do I go about fighting this as plenty of people saw my car at work and I can prove that I attended work.

many thanks

Standard problem with ANPR systems. There will probably be a notice somewhere stating "condition of parking: no return within 24 hours". But this is plainly ridiculous and means that the shop will lose half its potential business. Your options are clearly laid out here: www.honestjohn.co.uk/faq/private-parking-penalties/
