I'm about to buy my daughter her first car - what are traders' obligations in terms of warranties?
I am about to buy my daughter her first car. I'm not spending too much (about £1200-£1500) first time around, and the car may be up to 10 years old, but I will be buying from a trader. I have read that the laws regarding warranties and guarantees have changed. What are traders' obligations now? Am I asking too much to expect some kind of warranty with the car?

You may get a warranty from the trader but it's unlikely on a car of this value. The warranty is up to the individual trader, but many smaller garages won't offer one while larger franchised dealerships offer anything from three to six months and beyond.
