Should I steer clear of a 2-year-old Mazda 6 that has 47,000 miles on the clock?

That's considerably above average mileage, which would be 20,000 miles, but if it has a full service history and is priced accordingly there's no reason you shouldn't go for it. The Mazda 6 is a reliable and well built car.
