Do I have grounds for rejecting a car?
I saw a 15 month old Citroen C3 Picasso advertised by a main dealer. I asked all the right questions as I wanted to avoid buying a car which had been used by a car hire firm or had been in an accident. The dealer told me the car had not been involved with either and I bought it, on the condition it had a full service history.
I paid for the car and part exchanged my old one. However, before I left, I checked the service book of the C3 and it was not stamped, but they said that it had been serviced. A local Citroen garage said that without any service history they would not do any warranty work. I have also discovered that the car was previously owned by a car hire firm.
I rang the dealer and said I wanted to reject the vehicle. The salesman rang me yesterday, ignoring my request to return the car and said that the hire firm had serviced the car. There is also a panel which has been badly sprayed. Do I have grounds to reject t?

Yes, you can reject it, not because a car hire firm was a previous keeper, but because it has not been correctly serviced and the warranty does not apply. Law here: www.honestjohn.co.uk/faq/consumer-rights/
