Should I buy a used Passat?

I am interested in buying a 2009 Volkswagen Passat as a replacement for our Toyota RAV4 which has had its gearbox fail and is not financially worthwhile replacing.

The mileage on the proposed car is 109,000 and still has the original cam belt on it. The car will be used by my wife for normal duties such as taking the kids to and from school, shopping, going for days out etc. which is 90 per cent urban travel and I estimate will not exceed 5000-6000 a year.

The high spec of the car and its price tag of £5600 is appealing, but I am worried about the high mileage. What do you think?

Don't touch this model of Passat. It has the longest list of faults I have ever recorded for anything: www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar/volkswagen/passat-20...d
