Should I buy extended warranty for my E-Class?

I have a 2010 Mercedes-BEnz E250 SE Blue Efficiency CDI. It came with a one year warranty that expires at the end of the month. I have called a few warranty companies and have been quoted £1017 for an extended three year comprehensive cover 'on the franchised labour rate'.

There seem to quite a lot of things excluded from the cover and quite a few reviews suggest that there are a lot of loop holes when people have attempted to claim. Do you think I am buying peace of mind, or wasting a lot of money?

The exclusions should all be wear and tear items such as brakes, tyres, belts, wiper blades, etc. If there are wear and tear exclusions on any mechanical parts at all then the warranty is not worth having.
