Problem with Fiat 500 and Panda 1.2 Eu 6 engine pulling away especially on hill starts
I have recently bought a brand new Fiat 500S 1.2 and find it almost impossible to make a hill start without excessive revving combined with slipping the clutch so much that the car fills with a burning smell. The dealer and Fiat say that there is no problem with the car and that I have to adapt my driving style.
There are many other owners of 500s and Pandas with the same engine who are complaining of the same issue on the Fiat Forum but Fiat refuse to acknowledge it.
There are reports of a recent software fix but nothing confirmed from the dealers or Fiat.
Can you help? If you could possibly make a hill start test with either a Panda or 500 with a 1.2 Eu6 engine I am sure you would be shocked that a car that behaves in this manner could be on the market in 2014.

This is a general complaint of the 1,242cc FIRE engine since it was recalibrated to meet EU6. I've had it out with FIAT. According to them the software fix is only for the starting/idling of the engine, but a reader who had it done tells me it has restored the overall running of the car to satisfactory.
