When do new Euro 6 emissions regulations come into force?

When do new Euro 6 emissions regulations come into force; I have read both January 2015 and September 2015?

It's confusing, like everything from the EC. For new Type Approvals for new models EU6 applies from September 2014. For existing Type Approvals updated to meet EU6 this has to be done by September 2015. Good old Wikipedia explains: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_emission_standards
