How can I get DVLA trade plates in order to set up as a vehicle distributor?
I want to start a vehicle distribution business and have several garages and auctions willing to use my services to deliver and collect their cars. I submitted an application to Carlisle DVLA for trade plates, but I've been told that I need three months' accounts to prove that I am trading as a vehicle distributor. I told them that I have not yet started operating as such, as I can't without trade plates. I have the use of an office in Carlisle (as I believe I need one for my application) but I was told basically that if I couldn't produce the accounts then my application was a waste of time (that was the gist anyway) and they had no advice how to get round this. So basically unless I get a transporter, I appear to be stuck for options.

Same for me. I needed to show accounts before I could get mine. it's a catch 22 situation. But if you get a trailer you can run legally, put the accounts together, then get the plates for delivering cars solo.
