New car has broken down after 7 miles - should I reject it?
This morning I collected my new BMW. I drove the car for 7 miles when I was unable to change gears or disengage the gear. I managed to drive the car back to the dealership, who are now removing the gearbox. I would be grateful if you could advise on my rights. I am concerned about the type of fault occurring so early and accepting a repair so early on with a new car.

Can happen even on a new car. The law gives you a choice of rejecting the car as "of unsatisfactory quality" (Clegg v Olle Andersson, House of Lords, 2003) or of letting the dealer repair it. If you accept the car back after the repair your rights are unaffected, so it if fails again you can still reject it for a full refund.
