What's the like BMW 528i like?
I recently test drove the BMW 3 series touring with various engines (320d, 328i, 330d). While trying to decide what engine to pick, I looked at the 5 series prices through some brokers.
For about the same money as a well specified 330d M-sport Touring (which is my shortlist choice) I can get a 528i SE saloon. The standard spec on a 5 SE is great, about the only option I wanted was the variable damper control. I'm tempted to change my mind in favour of the 528i, but the dealer looked at me like I was mad to consider the 528i over a diesel. Would it really be a bad engine choice in a 5 Series?

Not surprising. F10 5-Series are on run-out to be replaced by a new 5-Series very soon, just as is the case with the Audi A6. Huge discounts and probably a sensible buy if you intend to keep for a long time.
I'm a bit worried about the 245PS four-cylinder 528i engine. It's had some problems, which is why BMW didn't send me the 328i Modern I had ordered and I had to settle for a 320dED instead. The 3.0 litre straight six single turbo diesel is the most reliable choice.
