What's the best automatic car for £3000?
I have just got my driving licence and am looking to buy an used economical automatic car, with a budget of £3000. I like the Toyota Prius MK2 (2003) with the CVT 'box and the Mazda2 (2003). Which car would you recommend?

A £3000 Prius could be reliable but may land you with a heavy bill for new hybrid batteries. A £3000 Jazz CVT-7 is likely to be a better bet. Alternatively a four-speed torque converter auto in a KIA Picanto, a Fiesta 1.6 or a Fusion 1.6. Avoid the early square-shape Mazda 2 1.4 auto because that is an automated manual, not a proper auto. Avoid VAG DSGs.

Much better than the original. An enjoyable, practical, safe, economical hybrid. Looks good, too. Prius Taxis have run to 400,000 miles plus with very little trouble.
