Ford Kuga engine failure - what are my rights?

My five year old Ford Kuga with 48,000 miles on the clock requires a new engine. Ford doesn't think this is unreasonable and refuses to pay for the repairs.

It has been serviced according to the manufacturer's instructions at a main dealer. Over a three month period, while the car was off the road, Ford sent their technical people to the dealership. They failed to diagnose the problem after several attempts, eventually suggesting a new engine. What are my rights?

These are your legal rights: www.honestjohn.co.uk/faq/consumer-rights/ In UK law it is the 'supplier' who can be held liable, not the 'maunfacturer'. Providing the cost of the replacement engine is less than £10,000 you could consider attempting to sue the supplying dealer for that cost using the small claims track of the County Court. But you have not informed us what went wrong with the engine or even which engine it is, so that severely limits the advice we can give you. You can, of course, look up faults of the model here: www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar/ford/kuga-2008/?sect...d, but there are no engine failures on the list.
