How does the DVLA allocate registrations?
Now that the local DVLA offices have disappeared (great shame), how do DVLA allocate registrations? For example, if I bought a new car off a broker based in London, would the DVLA allocate a registration based on the broker's address (L), or would it be based on my home address in Cornwall (W)? Or is there a choice and you can specify?

They are allocated by the location of the garage. Garage owners can no longer travel to register a batch of cars at a local registration office out of the area of their garages. My car has an RO (Reading) reg, but the dealer is in Hounslow.
